Kayaking near Deland the St Johns River rocks!

It was like Spring this morning paddling on the St Johns River. The Red Maples and Elms are already showing new foliage and a few of the Great Blue Herons are sitting on their nests. The Great and Snowy Egrets are getting their shaggy plumes going and there were lots of birds out feeding. We got to see Turkeys fly across the river while the Tri-colored and Little Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Anhingas and Cormorants were out playing. The White Ibis were all resting in the trees. We spied a Limpkin feeding on a fresh water mussel and the sunning Turtles and a few Alligators graced us with their presence. It was 83 degrees today so the Manatees were out feeding and we got to see a few coming up to catch a breath of fresh air and then down they’d go showing us their backs and then a tail wag. The sky was that gorgeous Florida blue and with 3 generations paddling with us it was a great day on the water!
