Kayaking near Sanford, FL February 3, 2014

The Sandhill Cranes greeted Kenny at the boat launch, which was a good sign... it was going to be a good day for the wildlife. 30 minutes into their start, dark gray clouds moved in from the South, they put on their ponchos and down it came. 10 minutes later the sun was out and it looked like a completely different day ;-). The Ospreys were out fishing, crashing into the river, Great Blue Herons are sitting on the nests and new ones are coming into the world. Little Blue Herons, Moorhens, Pied-billed Grebes, White Ibis and a couple of Limpkins greeted them as they paddled by. The Red-shouldered Hawks, Black and Turkey Vultures and Wild Turkeys were out chasing each other, catching thermals and rooting around and the reptiles were loving the sunshine too. They saw lots of sunning Turtles, 8 Alligators from 1 ft to 11 ft and many of them posed for the camera. Life is good on the river!
