A back to School kayaking trip

There were lots of young birds out on the Wekiva River this morning. Most born in the Spring time they are all out feeding and learning the lessons of life. We saw Anhingas, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Little Blue and Green Herons, Ospreys, Pileated Woodpeckers and a family of Sandhill Cranes. All the different shades of green you only get in Florida's Summer subtropical environment are present and we found a Baldfaced Hornet's nest hanging under the Red Maple Tree - You don't want none of that! Pink Mallow, Spatterdock and Scarlet Hibiscus are in bloom along the river's edge this time of year as well. The Wekiva River always gives up her treasures you just have to go look for them.
