Kayaking with Florida's River Otters and American Alligators July 15, 2015

Two Floridians and one all the way from the Marshall Islands joined us this morning on Rock Springs Run. Being the first ones down the river always has it's special moments. The Alligators and Otters were the find of the day seeing several and some up close. The Alligators were just hanging around lethargically on the log as they usually do but the Otters being from the Weasel family they are hyper and active. They need to eat 15% of their body weight daily. If it moves and they can chew on it they'll be checking it out. The birds they started popping up here and there and we were able to see the Limpkins, Great and Little Blue Herons in the white first year phase and in the adult blue phase. Great Egrets, Anhingas, White Ibis were also spotted and numerous Turtles were out sunning too. Paddling on the spring fed rivers in Central Florida getting to dip your toes in the clean, cool water is like a summertime dream.
